Helotes Economic Disaster Relief Fund Pre-Vote Questionnaire

2nd Update. The HEDC meeting scheduled for April 15th, 2020 was cancelled. The form below will remain live for anyone who still wants to submit their input.
Updated to clarify points about funding and specifically acknowledge Glenn from the HEDC for his part.
For the first time in a while I’m updating this blog with some very positive news. Last week the assistant director of the Helotes Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) had the same idea I did during a time of crisis. Glenn Goolsby, the Assistant Director of the HEDC and our only employee approached the city administrator about programs other cities manage the same day I sent the email about suggesting we start a relief fund. This is very serendipitous, and started the momentum on the agenda item.
Basically, let’s reallocate EDC funds to grants and loans to support our small businesses during the pandemic.
First, let’s get the legal stuff out of the way. As a director of the board, political appointee and citizen of Helotes, I am fully and well within my rights to publish information not classified or restricted by non-disclosure agreements.
The following form on my website is voluntary. Any and all data provided may possibly be provided to the City of Helotes and the Helotes Economic Development Corporation. It is not being used for marketing purposes.
Prior to your submission; I’ll disclose my bias. As a director of the board for the Helotes Economic Development Corporation I voted against allocating HEDC funds towards a splash pad in the fitness park on 1560 and sidewalk from Guadeloupe Church to City Hall.
To pay for the grants and loans, the HEDC is proposing to the board of directors to reallocate funds from the approved expenditures (splash pad and sidewalk), as well as add about $125,000 to $200,000 to the relief fund from our HEDC account.
